Insights of the project
As part of the joint IPA project to build three new schools in Bremerhaven, our company played a key role in the BIM-based collaboration as a subcontractor. The schools involved include the Neue Grundschule Lehe (NGL), the Neue Oberschule Lehe (NOL) and the Schulzentrum Hamburger Straße (SHS). The aim of the project is to create modern and functional educational facilities that meet both pedagogical and structural requirements.
BIM GLW supported gmp Architekten as a subcontractor and took over the overall BIM coordination of the planning team to ensure the smooth integration of the various disciplines. Through regular collision and quality checks, we ensured that the various specialist models – including architecture, structural engineering and building services – were optimally coordinated. The use of BIM made it possible to identify and avoid planning errors at an early stage. This led to greater precision in the planning and better coordination between the trades.
Laser scans were also carried out in the three schools during the construction phase. These scans of the current construction progress were compared with the updated BIM model to ensure precise quality assurance during the transition from planning to construction. This allowed deviations to be identified at an early stage and corrections to be made if necessary, which contributed to further optimization of the construction processes.
