Insights of the project
The project, which is being implemented by Building Information Management GLW GmbH in cooperation with the Technical University of Darmstadt and Antal, relies on advanced technologies to make the construction process more efficient and transparent. The focus of this project is the consistent use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), a method that is becoming increasingly important in the construction industry. By integrating BIM, all phases of the project – from planning to quantity take-off to tendering – are digitally and precisely coordinated. This not only enables seamless collaboration between the various players, but also optimal control over costs, time and quality.
First, the BIM model is created, in which both the building itself and the construction work are mapped out in a digital model. This model serves as a central database and enables precise planning, visualization and simulation of the project. All those involved have access to the same, always up-to-date data, which enables smooth collaboration and transparent documentation of changes in real time.
The BIM-based quantity take-off is based on this digital model. Detailed analysis of the model allows exact quantities of building materials and resources to be calculated. This minimizes the risk of errors and ensures optimized cost control and precise resource planning. The ability to forecast future requirements is a key advantage that contributes to more efficient project execution.
Finally, BIM-based tendering enables transparent and fair awarding of construction contracts. The exact quantities and specifications determined beforehand are incorporated directly into the tender documents. This means that all bidders receive the same complete information, which makes it easier to compare and evaluate the offers.
