Insights into the Project
As part of a transformation project to introduce BIM methodology, our company advised G. Büter Bauunternehmen GmbH on the digitalisation of its planning and project management processes. The aim was to increase planning reliability, identify errors and collisions at an early stage and establish a collaborative, open BIM-based approach within the company. The BIM methodology was specifically tailored to the requirements of a medium-sized construction company in turnkey construction.
At the start of the project, the existing cross-company actual processes were analysed and presented in a structured manner in a process map. On this basis, relevant BIM use cases were selected and then integrated into optimised target processes. In addition, a BIM basics workshop created a uniform understanding and gradually introduced employees to the new digital working methods.
Another focus was on BIM-based object and specialist planning as well as quality assurance for the models. The introduction of Archicad was supported by training courses, the creation of a component catalogue including the necessary attributes, and the development of IFC export templates, including for import into building energy software. Structured test and evaluation definitions were implemented in Desite for model checking, coordination, and VOB-compliant quantity determination, LV creation, and calculation.
Despite existing challenges such as varying levels of BIM knowledge, change management and limited resources, the BIM methodology has been successfully established within the company. As a result, G. Büter Bauunternehmen GmbH now has established BIM processes, trained employees and company-specific BIM standard documents such as AIA, BAP and a modelling guideline. This serves as a solid and sustainable basis for future BIM-based projects.
