As part of the new production site in Augsburg project, BIM took on a central role in planning and execution. The tasks included several critical areas that contributed to the success of the project.

First, BIM GLW supported construction advice on the building specifications and the basic investigation. In this phase, the essential framework conditions for the project were defined in order to create a solid basis for the subsequent planning and construction phases.

Another important step was the creation of the client information requirements (AIA). These requirements form the basis for BIM planning and ensure that all relevant information is taken into account and precisely documented right from the start.

A central element of the BIM services was the creation and support of the update of the BIM implementation plan (BAP). This plan describes in detail how BIM will be used throughout the project, from the collaboration of the project participants to the specific modeling requirements.

As part of the BIM coordination, BIM GLW carried out regular collision and quality checks. These measures ensured that the various specialist models, such as architecture, structural engineering and building services, meshed seamlessly and that potential conflicts could be identified and resolved at an early stage.

BIM GLW paid particular attention to the symbiosis between building and production data. This enabled optimal integration of the production processes into the building structure and thus contributed to the efficiency and future viability of the production site.

In addition, model-based scheduling and cost planning played a crucial role. By closely linking the construction planning with the actual costs and schedules, BIM GLW was able to make precise forecasts and manage the project efficiently.

Finally, BIM GLW created a detailed construction process and relocation simulation. This simulation not only helped to optimally plan the construction process, but also enabled the production processes to be relocated to the new location without a hitch.

Through these comprehensive services, BIM GLW made a significant contribution to the successful completion of the project and ensured that the new Augsburg production site was optimally prepared in both structural and operational terms.
